RELATED STORIES The Daytime Emmy Awards will shine a lot much less brighter this year, since the 47th version of the annual honors reveal has been cancelled.
Due to the recurring coronavirus pandemic, “There are just too many unknowns right now, not the least of which is whether we would in fact be permitted to organize an event in June involving more than one thousand real-time individuals,” National Academy of Television Arts & & Sciences chairman Terry O’Reilly stated on Thursday in a message to NATAS members. “With due dates to make substantial monetary commitments upon us, it seems reckless to move forward as we have in the past.”
NATAS head of state Adam Sharp and his team are working with “alternative ideas to commemorate those that would generally have obtained their Emmys at the Daytime Awards,” O’Reilly included. “watch for details in the weeks to come.”
The cancellation of the Daytime Emmy Awards begins the heels of NATAS already scuttling two various other nationwide events: the 2020 Technology Emmys Awards (which were to be held at the NAB in Las Vegas) and also the National Sports Emmy Awards in New York City.
